Performances, Confessions, and Identities

In this chapter the author explains how a researcher, studied queer identities in different spaces such as work, home and the scene, to chart differences in identity performances. The participants chosen through snowballing technique, the participants where given the equipment necessary to conduct these diaries and where asked to use it by describing settings clothing and their bodily arrangements. Once received back research coded and found similarities

Having people do these diaries really lets them express themselves overriding the risk of having speech appropriated by others. Thus the researcher received the truest self- representation. Although diaries appear confessional in style keep in mind that we as researcher set the frame of what is need to obtain crucial information for the project. We also get to code and select things fit the frame.
